Movie-Fest brings a relief from the 107 degree heat!

I decided the heck with it, I'm not fighting this heat! I'm staying inside and having my own little movie-athon! Period films are the subject this weekend. You're all invited!
I even have the same pigment disorder they did in Elizabethan times..shark bait skin!
Two serious films, then a love story! Do you remember her pink gown when she won the Oscar? Loved it!
Followed up with major eye-candy! I mean men in tights, I'm there!! I think I'm heading towards something lighter after these dark films, any suggestions? It's going to be between 103-107 degrees all next week! Invitations are still open to anyone who wants to come over!
Maybe an Edwardian period film like Miss Potter should be next!

A re-post for the return of the Parkinson's Quilt

I am re-posting this quilt square that I did for the Parkinson's Quilt because it is back in the United States after touring Europe. If you should see this coming to your community take a few minutes to stop by and see it, it's huge! I played with photo-shop so it looks a little different. Here is the poem and idea behind the piece:

Bound by movement and lack of grace
Sometimes they’re days you don’t want to face.
But through the weavings of ribbon and lace
I’ve found the peace to slow my pace.
A marriage of hope and patience of mind,
Time to reflect but hard to unwind.
So, I create this space with seams I did bind,
In hopes of a cure in plenty of time.

I used all the things I love to create this panel. Old wedding dresses, lace and pearls. I have this romantic love of old wedding dresses. I smile when I see one and think of the  young bride standing in the back of the church, waiting to make her entrance into the church her new life.

I was diagnosed  4 years, and 6 months ago at the age of 44. In a way, I had to divorce my old life and begin a second marriage with the challenge of hard work determination to make my life as happy as possible. A cure would make a nice wedding present!

OMG I've been "published"

I got a phone call from sweet Tricia Samsal and she asked if she could use my post from the Cloverleaf in Ardmore Oklahoma and I said, yes please!
Just go to vintagebliss.typepad.com/blissfullytraveled/ to read all about it! I think I could get use to this "traveling reporter job." It will give me a good excuse to have all kinds of new adventures!

Weiner Dog Races!

In race number one we have lucky lady, mama's boy, missy, the bad boy twins, mad max,  and tinkerbell. It's a close contest, mama's boy is closing on tinkerbell who is in the lead, mad max on their heels, lucky lady in a close forth,
.....but it's tinkerbell by a nose!
Race 2, get ready set..... and they're off!

Oh, no!! Mass confusion... "Which way do I go?", "I have to go to the bathroom", "It's hot out here," "Did somebody say treat?" "I don't think this is very dignified for a dog of my breeding," "Oh, can it, sugar britches just get outta my way!" Race number 2 did not go well.
Not all dogs entered the race. Some were disqualified for  super dog powers,
Some just came for the puppy-arazzi!! Annabell was quoted as saying ,"Does this tutu make me look fat? Has anyone seen my driver! I am not just out of bone-hab!"

Former beauty queen, Miss Caroline drove all the way from Alabama just to see all those young handsome boys, "ran like the dickens. They were just downright adorable!"
Rocky,
and Hank.
Fritz said it was to hard to run in his lederhosen so, he
stayed in the shade and watched all the pretty" Frauleins' go by."
Ya' know if you replaced the word "dog" with "husband"....
So by the end of the day, we had trophies for best dressed, King and Queen, smallest dog, biggest dog, oldest, youngest and of course, the fastest!

I have been violated by Hugh Hefner the Lizard!

So what do you get when you mix Hugh Hefner,
and a lizard?

You get the lizard who came into my car with the mail and went down the front of my dress!OMG, Jesus, Joseph, and Mary, and Holy you know what! Not only did I knock the mirror back on my car by hitting the accelerator, I hit the curb, dented the rim, jumped out of the car doing the dance of hades, and that lil son of a biscuit would not come out of my dress. He was heading for the promise land like  a teenager on steroids. I'm slapping my dress screaming and laughing thinking oh great we have new neighbors who just moved in and I am most likely mooning them right now trying to get this, excuse me, damn lizard out of my dress. Then he just pops out, runs to the bushes and gives me this look like.......

"What!?,
It was hot in that mailbox! Well anyway thanks for the ride to the bushes babe! "
Can Lizards wink?

The Cattle Barn Flea Market

OK it was 900 degrees in the shade but, I was about to lose my mind from staying inside for so long soo, I ran up to the Cattle Barn flea market that goes on every weekend here in Fort Worth.
Of coarse there are the usual cowboy hats and boots galore, usually for really good prices. The hats above were under $10! Most of these boots were under $30!
Yep, we have plenty of belt buckles, every kind of buckle you can think of.  I bought the small one with the covered wagon for $3, I have several this size and I plan to make napkin rings out of them as soon as I have enough.
I did pretty good and didn't buy any jewelry......this time.
But it was tempting,
With every tray I walked by!
However, when I saw all these doilies and pieces of lace,
you could say , ahhh, it was the heat..
I hadn't had lunch, it was low blood sugar....
I felt weak in the knees and had to sit down...in the middle
of all of these bins,
and thought oh, this is menopause! Yes, that's it! I couldn't help it. It was temporary insanity from the change of life and lack of oxygen to my pea brain!
Did I need a nurse? No,
instead,I sat next to a refreshing fountain,
thought of all my friends who could use this same excuse,
found a cool breeze,
and quickly packed up all my new found goodies and drove home like a crazy woman before my hubby came home and saw that I had found EVEN MORE lace and doilies!!!!!

Happy 4th of July!

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. "
~Erma Bombeck
I just love the 4th of July. All the family gatherings, the fireworks and of coarse the cookouts. Some of my most favorite memories were spending time with the entire family, setting off bottle rockets, eating off of picnic tables and running around with sparklers, I always thought of magical faeries when I would run around the yard, leaving a trail of sparkles!
So every year I go a little crazy with my 4th of July pinwheels, but I just love watching them spin in the breeze. Please keep our troops in your thoughts, without their patriotism and service we would not have the freedom we all enjoy! Happy 4th of July everyone. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do
