IT'S A BELT BUCKLE GIVE AWAY!

It's been a long time coming but it's time for another.......
BELT BUCKLE GIVEAWAY!
The Pink buckle above is one that I did for Breast Cancer Awareness Month two years ago.
I can't believe that it's been that long!

This is a horrible photo but these are a few of the belt buckles that I saved for myself.
I sold so many to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and at shows, that I finally decided it was time to keep a couple for me!
The two crazy buckles with the Miller Lite bottle caps were for
Junk Gypsy Prom.
I made one for myself and one for the other two girls that were there with me.
The red one was for an AIDS benefit.

The silver and turquoise western one I wore to the
Cowgirl Hall of Fame Luncheon,
the purple with the huge Horned Toad was for the
Texas Christian University Rose Bowl Game.
The buckle with the ballerina was for the
Texas Shoot Out benefiting the Fort Worth Ballet,
the gold and green was a Bank event,
and last but not least the pink one because I LOVE pink!

Some people buy new shoes or a new outfit for an event,

I make a personalized belt buckle!
When you live in Cowtown you wear a lot of boots and jeans so you have to wear something that has some

B-L-I-N-G!

I recently have had several requests to make belt buckles for brides! Yep you heard me right, brides! Apparently the "in thing" for brides is to go the
Miranda Lambert
way and have an outside wedding under the trees and a reception in a so called very fancy barn with neutral burlap colors, multiple chandeliers but with a relaxed atmosphere. The guests are expected to wear western or their version of.
SO, if you win and you want a bridal belt buckle, you got it!!
How do you win?
Just leave me a comment and pretty please with sugar on top, join my blog and I will announce the winner on my birthday, September 29th!
Please add my button to your sidebar. :)

Why do I hear "Jaws" music in my head when I go to the Dentist?

Tomorrow I have to go to the dentist and be put to sleep for 5 hours while he makes me a new mouth full of teeth. I have ground my teeth for so many years I have cracked, crumbled and chipped every tooth! And that's with a night guard! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I'm hoping I don't do anything to embarrassing while I'm out like talk in my sleep, bite someone or heaven forbid pass gas. But, I'll never know it, I hope. I go back in two weeks for the permanent teeth. That's another 5 hours!! Oh man I am so dreading this! Well look at me, it's 1am and I'm writing a post!!! I can't sleep!
I know this photo cracked me up too. My cats are always getting my toothbrush, yuck. Now I keep a supply just in case. My three little fuzzy nurses will be by my side when I get home. I'm sure hubby will be ready to leave, he has to wait in the lobby for me. I'm hoping they let him go somewhere! I'll check in and let you know how it went. Cross your fingers for me!

The Creative mind of Tricia Fountaine

I'd like for you to meet Tricia Fountaine of
Conversations with the Muses
I have loved her blog from the very beginning and have followed her themed weddings. She has a fabulous location on a private ranch in Santa Barbara that grows avocados. The owners soon realized that the success that Tricia brought to the ranch far surpassed the avocado business. I had the wonderful opportunity to actually meet her after over a year and a half of emails and comments on her blog!
You see, I didn't know that my friends Cynthia and Charlene had set this meeting up until I got to California! I was so excited, I could finally see where all the magic happens. I had always wanted to see the outside alter with pews where the wedding ceremonies took place. Seeing it in person was fabulous! The tree that the pews sit under is so huge is spans the length of a gray hound bus and it most likely the oldest tree on the property! The photos you see above are of Tricia's adorable side yard where of course you go through a white picket fence.
Well after seeing the yard, she so kindly invited us into her adorable house where you could see her artistic flair all over the place. It had a Bohemian,Victorian, Gypsy feel to it. It was so light and airy, oh and did I mention it was about 72 degrees outside so the windows were left open for a soft cool breeze. This is Tricia's bedroom. I'm sorry the photos are so blurry, I took them with my iphone.
It was crazy, she had these three wacko women running around her house snapping photos and oogling over the costumes and wings she had made for past events. I was in heaven. The rugs, the colors and all done with such ease and flair.
The green dress is from the fairy wedding that she did and these cute baby dressing gowns were hanging in the bathroom as decoration. Who thinks like that? She does, and it worked perfectly.
Oh, and in her "spare" time she likes to make little fairy houses. Really? OMG it would take a village to help me complete something so amazing. What you can't see is the interior of the houses, fit with furniture and a porch. Please go to her site for better photos.
And of course she drives a British car that she had painted purple and decorated the inside in her own style. SO, is she just the bees knees or what. Even her dang car is cool and Euro chic'.
Yes, those are real Magnolia Pearl bags from the good old days when they still made them. This trunk is standing open in her bedroom, used as a dresser and wonderful addition to the feel of the room. Did you notice there were no TVs? Tricia said that she quit watching TV years ago, too many other things to do.
Our quick visit had to come to an end because she had a wedding the next day. I so wish I could have had more time to see her but we all understood, she had to work. The first photo of this post does not really show how adorable she really is. Poor thing was slaving away and we kidnapped her for a break. She has a personality and a smile that is contagious and left the three of us smiling as we drove away. Before we drove off I had to get one more hug from her, it felt our friendship was complete, concrete in a way, being able to see her and her life. I can't wait to go back to visit. So until then, I'll go to her blog and follow her creativity from here. Love ya Tricia!!
P.S. My friend Charlene took much better photos
that I'll share later!

I Love Doris Day!

I love Doris Day! She makes me happy and she makes me smile. Her movies are silly with happy endings and she always gets her man. I adore all the funny faces, the slap stick and most of all, the way she stood by Rock Hudson's side to the day he died. Did you know she wanted him to come live on her property in Carmel? She said she would make him chicken soup every day until he got better. He had not told her about his true illness. But even after he died she remains his biggest fan. Now who wouldn't love a woman like that!
She had a way of looking sexy, without looking too sexy. Women wanted to be her and men wanted to marry her. Well she did marry, three times! Oh well I guess she was just looking for the right one.
Oh how I loved the costumes and how she made ordinary clothes look like costumes with just an expression! They say on the set of her movies she was always making everyone mess up their lines with a goofy expression with her back to the camera.
I have wanted to have her wardrobe forever! Vintage clothes are not kind to a woman with curves and a waist larger than 20 inches! Plus there was no such thing as spandex in those days! Nothing had stretch to it! How did they do it? They wore heels, those gawd awful bras and girdles and to top it off garter belts, sheesh, I'd never be able to leave the house before noon putting all that on! OH, I forgot, the hair and make-up!
Well I'd be ready for dinner at least.
So, I love Doris Day! She's in her 90's, still active with animal activism, and enjoying life in Carmel with all her own animals. I think last count was 17 dogs, but she has a large property so I say get a couple more sista'! Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Wedding Photos To Add To Your Collection!

I'm so sorry I've been away from blogland for so long! I have been lazy and playing on Facebook! SO today I scanned some new wedding photos to share with you!
You would think these would be so easy to find but I'm
having a much harder time finding these treasures!
But you know me, every where I go I scout them
out and usually find at least one!
OK, now you have to admit that the bride in this
one looks like a guy in drag, so I bought it!
I thought she looked so sweet. Maybe you can copy this and work your magic with your photoshop and do better than I did.
No big church or ceremony to take this bride's photo!
She just posed right next to a spruce tree in the side yard!
This photo actually said wedding photo on the back. How do you like her hat! I can't tell if it's feathers or flowers but they're both pretty horrible,YIKES!
Neither of these two look very happy do they?
I just love this photo. It sparks my imagination. I'm thinking she lost her husband in the war and this is his son standing in front of her. Her new husband was in her late husbands squadron and delivered his posessions. It was love at first sight and a year to the day they were married. She carried her late husband's photo in her bouquet. Well that's my take on it! Thanks for stopping by!

Thursday Thoughts ~ Hazel

Thursday Thoughts:
I needed a good laugh today so I went through my file of funny photos and found this one. So, I wrote a little poem:

Hazel was a screamer from daylight until dusk,
Her mother thought she'd lose her mind, a remedy was a must.
She had no other playmates, they cried and ran away,
So her mother thought a pet would help and keep the screams at bay.
A bird would be so perfect, so tiny and so sweet,
But because of Hazels screaming all the bird would do was screech!
So the moral of this story is don't mess with changing others,
Just thank the Lord and thank those stars that you're not Hazel's mother!

Homestead Antique Fair in Hico Texas

This wonderful couple was responsible for the Homestead Antiques Fair! Brenda and Mike James did a wonderful job planning and organizing this great event. I always make time to go because they make such a great effort to make everything run smoothly. There is a big white tent filled with vendors who really decorated their booths and filled them with well priced adorable, had to have treasures! Then after you're exhausted from shopping you could have lunch! The menu ranged from chicken salad to a BLT, which Kristi and I had! Can you tell I had fun? Kristi Day drove up from San Antonio and we stayed until they kicked us out.........then we had pie at the Koffee Kup. Best pie in the world! This antiques fair happens twice a year so check the Homestead's website at www.homesteadhico.com.
There are over 100 photos in this post but they represent just a small portion of what was there!!
Enjoy!
